Just a few days ago chase changed the IHG Rewards Club Visa to a new product which is now the the IHG Rewards Club Select MasterCard. The good news is that the MasterCard version of this card still has an 80,000 bonus point sign-up offer and most of the card benefits stayed the same. This is one of my favorite hotel credit cards because of its annual free night certificate which you can use at any Intercontinental group hotel no matter how expensive it is. In fact, I’m about to receive my free night in July of this year and I’m thinking in redeeming it for the Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso, where prices can be as high as $1000 per night.
My wife also has this credit card which means that between both of us we’re getting 2 free nights with these certificates. One of the great things about this card is that every year when you pay the $49 annual fee, you get a free night certificate that can be used at any IHG hotel. This is an awesome deal because you’re basically spending $49 for a hotel room that can cost more than $1000 per night.
This Is My Review For The Chase IHG Rewards Club MasterCard!
80,000 IHG Points Sign-up Bonus
You’ll get 80,000 points after spending $1,000 in 3 months on the IHG Rewards Club MasterCard. Besides the great sign-up bonus, this creditcard comes with other great benefits, including a free night every year which makes this card worth keeping for a long time.

The regular sign-up bonus offer for this card is 60,000 points when you go directly to Chase’s credit card page. But, you can find the new 80,000 point offer for the IHG MasterCard in this Flyer Talk thread. Award nights at IHG hotels range from 10,000 points up to 50,000 per night. You can get a night at the top IHG hotels from 30,000 to 50,000 points, so the bonus can get you almost 2 free nights at the top Intercontinental hotels. Lower level hotels such as the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express start at 10,000 points per night and go up to 25,000.
You could also get up to 16 free nights at IHG hotels during the IHG’s PointBreaks promotion. I plan to use my 80,000 signup points and then transfer 20,000 more points from my Chase Freedom Card for a total of 100,000 points which is good for 2 free nights at the Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso, where I plan to stay with some friends next year on a trip to Bora Bora.
1 Free ANNUAL Night
One of the top benefits from the Chase IHG Rewards Club MasterCard is that you get 1 free night certificate each year when you renew your creditcard. This means that every year when you pay the $49 annual fee you get 1 free night that you can use at ANY IHG hotel.
The free night certificate is emailed on the card’s anniversary date and is valid for 1 year from the issue date. You have to book and stay before the certificate expires in a year. The fact that you can use the free night at any IHG Rewards Club Hotel its an awesome deal because it can used at the most expensive InterContinental hotels and get more than $1000 in value. The annual free night certificate alone makes paying the $49 annual fee worth it.
Another great benefit is that you’ll get a 10% points rebate when you redeem your points for award stays. For example, when I redeem 100,000 points for 2 nights at the Intercontinental hotel in Bora Bora I will get 10,000 points back into my account. With award nights starting at 10,000 points, am actually getting an additional free night from redeeming these points. However the maximum points you can earn in a calendar year is 100,000.
The IHG Rewards Club MasterCard will give you Platinum elite status with great benefits such as:
50% points bonus on paid stays
Free internet (plus free breakfast at Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites)
Room upgrades subject to availability
IHG Rewards Club (previously called Priority Club) includes the following hotels:
- Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts
- Hualuxe Hotels and Resorts
- Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts
- Hotel Indigo
- Even Hotels
- Holiday Inn
- Holiday Inn Express
- Holiday Inn Resorts
- Holiday Inn Club Vacations
- Staybridge Suites
- Candlewood Suites
IHG PointBreaks –Can get you Award Nights for just 5,000 Points
Every couple months the IHG Program publishes a list of participating properties where you can redeem award nights for 5,000 points per night including some of the best InterContinental hotels. You can get up to 16 free nights if you use all 80,000 points at the PointBreak hotels.
This is definitely one of the best hotel credit cards at the moment. Between the 80,000 points signup bonus and the 1 free night certificate every year, this is a good card to keep for a long time… The free night certificate every year is worth much more than the $49 annual fee, which makes this credit card a must have for folks looking to travel more often with less money.
