This is a review of our 2 short but awesome and active days in Hong Kong.       Our day started early in the morning. The plane arrived to Hong Kong at 6:00am and it was too early to check into our hotel (JW Marriott Hong Kong), so we decided to leave our luggage in the hotel and started touring and walking around the city. We didn’t want to waste any time because our stay in Hong Kong was going to be very short, just 2 days and there’s just so much to see and do in Hong Kong.

Some of the most popular sites that we visited in Hong Kong were the Victoria PeakThe Star FerrySymphony of Lights, Ocean Park Hong Kong, and walking the Avenue of the Stars (see picture above). Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very good during these 2 days because it was extremely foggy the entire day and night but at least it didn’t rain too much.

We chose to visit Ocean Park over Hong Kong Disneyland because it was something totally different and we wanted to explore it for a couple hours early in the morning while things get going in the city. It was a very different park compared to the parks I visit often in Orlando because it was set in a mountain and we had to take the Tram station (see picture above) to get to some of the rides which were on top of the mountain. The setting and scenery of this park was amazing but I must admit the rides were not in the same class as Universal Studios, Busch Gardens or other major parks in the States.

After taking the Star Ferry to Kowloon we walked for a couple hours the Avenue of the Stars with wonderful views of the harbour, however as you can see in the picture it was very cloudy and foggy but that’s ok because this just gives us one more reason to return to this amazing city.

We chose a tour to take us around Hong Kong and Victoria Peak to avoid the long lines for the Gondola or Tram, which is what almost everyone takes to get to Victoria Peak.  The tour was going to take us to Hong Kong most important sites which was great since we had a short time to see as much as we could.

The tour took us to this very old fishing village. These people have been living with their families from these fishing boats for years...

Getting to know friendly locals and learning about their culture. This is one of the things we enjoy so much about traveling to different places around the world.

Overall we loved Hong Kong and we wished we could’ve had more time and better weather to explore the city more. Hong Kong is a small city and can definitely be seen in just a couple days. However this trip was mostly about Thailand for us where we spend a week. We just wanted to stop in Hong Kong for a couple days before taking the next flight to Thailand but it was definitely worth seeing this wonderful and active city, very similar to New York but much smaller and cleaner.

In my next post I’ll review the 5star hotel we stayed in Hong Kong with our points, The JW Marriott Hong Kong.
