About me

My Name is Guillermo Rodriguez and my wife is Samantha. We have earned and redeemed millions of airline miles and hotel points since we got married in 2008  – Almost all of them were earned without having to fly in airplanes or staying in hotels.  They were earned by applying for travel credit cards with big reward programs.

What is this blog about and what can I learn here?

I have always been good at finding good travel deals, but in the past few years I’ve become a frequent flyer miles expert. I want to share my knowledge with family, friends and their friends so that everyone can do what I do.

I am going to discuss methods for traveling for free or very very cheaply by efficiently earning miles in frequent flyer programs and then redeeming them for trips around the world. I am going to share my stories and super optimal ways to redeem miles.

I like keeping up with news of offers and deals around the frequent flyer community and will be sharing the best bonuses and best uses of your miles to make sure no one leaves any miles on the table!

I decided to write this blog to show others how they can also acquire lots of airline miles and hotel points to travel around the world.

By reading Award Travel Points you will learn how to travel more often with less money, stay in top hotels and fly all over the world for much less than retail price.

Since getting married 5 years ago, my wife and I have visited Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Alaska, The Caribbean, New York, Texas, California, Orlando and 5 times to our favorite place in the world, Hawaii. Lol.  Thanks to Award Travel with Miles and Points I mostly fly on International First and Business Class for almost no money out of pocket (where tickets costs about $20,000 per ticket) to Europe, Asia, and the United States…  I plan to use my knowledge and experience through this blog to help readers and their families travel and explore the world for less.

Since I was a kid I’ve always had a passion for traveling and visiting different places around the world. I am currently an Ophthamologist Doctor Assistant and for many years I was a Travel Agent which helped me learn alot about the Travel Industry but it wasn’t until I learned to travel with points and miles that I really started to Travel more often and go on major vacations 3-4 times per year with virtually no Money.  My other passion is for nature and animals.  I am currently a Doberman Pinscher Breeder. This is my favorite Dog breed and we import all of our dogs from Europe to help produce solid and healthy dogs…

  2. I just happened upon your blog, very interesting. I didn’t go through all the tabs above.
Before I retired, I thought I would spend my time traveling after retirement. Now I find, I really don’t like to be away from home for an extended period of time.
I’m also thinking, going on cruises might be more fun (although, I would have to fly in order to get to the ports.) I also don’t like the idea of churning credit cards. Are there any that you keep and pay for?

    • Hi Linda and thanks for your comments. My desire for traveling started after my honeymoon in Hawaii and since then Hawaii has become my favorite place on Earth.
Regarding your question, I do keep some of my credit cards for a long time because of great benefits such as the Chase IHG Card because it offers a free night every year at any IHG Hotel no matter the price, so by my wife and I keeping this card we have 2 free nights every year at some Hotels that can cost up $1000 per night. We also like to keep the American Express SPG card and the Chase Sapphire Preferred card because they offer great benefits as well. We also keep other needs depending our spending needs and travel goals. If you have any more questions feel free to ask and i’ll be glad to help you.

      • So sorry for this late response. I am just now seeing your reply dated 5/1/14. Yes, I do live in Hawaii. For some reason, since signing up to your blog in April of 2014, I haven’t received anything except for your 8/22/15 posts. I now have a lot of catching up to do and probably a million more questions for you. lol

      • Hi Linda,
LOL It’s ok we actually stopped updating our blog for the last 15 months due to some unfortunate events and lack of time. That’s probably why you haven’t received any new posts from our us.
We just decided this weekend that we’re going to work on our blog again and share all of our recent adventures and vacation ideas with everyone. Please feel free to as any questions you may have about our travel adventures and how you can do them too. Thanks for getting back to us. lol

      • By the way Linda if we may ask, where in Hawaii do you live?
We’re actually planning to move to Hawaii sometime around March of 2017.
We’re trying to decide between Maui or Oahu but not sure yet. lol
